Crazy Caption Picture
Have fun captioning it and remember to post your captions beneath as comments.
It’s been a roller coaster week and this caption picture was taken on top of the roller coaster in Hyde Park. It’s up to you to decide that Debs was doing up there.
This week we’ve had a lot of fun checking out the captions from last week’s picture. We know you’ll keep them coming and expect some good captions for this picture as well.
Plus A Bit Of Virtual News Roundup
While at it, let’s round up some more virtual news.
Sony’s PlayStation Home Is Not A Home Any Longer
Sony’s Virtual World, PlayStation Home, Is Closing Next Year. PlayStation Home as been going for 6 years, but after next year will no longer be available in the US and Canada. They claim it’s due to the ‘shifting landscape’. What this means is open to speculation, however I believe the new immersive gear like Oculus Rift may have something to do with this. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan also shut down Home’s Asian services last month.
PlayStation Home was introduced in 2007 as a free alternative to Second Life. However it never made the grade. It was relaunched in 2011 but never realised Sony’s dreams for it.
Another virtual world gone forever. We wait to see what follows in its footsteps.
Oculus Rift Team Preaching ‘Presence’
It used to be ‘immersion’ but now the latest virtual reality buzzwords are all around ‘presence’. It sounds like Michael Arash has a future more aligned with The Matrix than the outdoors in mind with quotes like “We might as well be brains in glass jars with wires coming out of them.” coming from his mouth at the inaugural Oculus Connect VR developer conference.
If Arash gets his way we may all be whisked off like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. “Imagine you had a pair of magical goggles that would take you anywhere, instantly. Where would you go? … What would you do? … That’s a powerful thought, and that’s what VR can do.” he says.
However what about real life. Isn’t he forgetting one small detail? Without the correct care and exercise the body will cease to function. Virtual Worlds have their place, but so does the real world.
There’s a nice caption picture in this too.
