It was Circus time with the Coach and Horses at Club 2012 and Manager and host Jas (below) was on hand to sell the tickets (although all our events are of course free). It was “take two” as we had originally tried to have the theme on Monday. But despite our best efforts walking the high wire of lag, and even moving the venue to the Coach pub itself, problems Linden Labs were having meant we`d had to abandon the event. Maybe it was meant to be, though, as the open-air environment at 2012 was perfect for setting the scene yesterday.
Although a lot of you were just “clowning around” there were some brilliant costumes out there. You could almost smell the sawdust and hear the animals. DJ Pyp (below, left) had done an absolutely brilliant job of coming up with all circus related songs (who knew there were so many), which really helped with the atmosphere too. People seemed genuinely excited and the 750L prize certainly added to the suspense.
Hyde Park`s new wintry setting suited the theme too and a burger and chips and a mug of hot chocolate would have gone down very well to keep the cold at bay. Except, of course, its Second Life so no-one is ever cold and life is one non-stop circus. We can all dress as skimpily as we like -Yay! The park is at it`s prettiest at this time of year, though, so if you haven`t checked it out yet come over as soon as you can.
“Well, she’s walking through the clouds,
With a circus smile running wild,
Butterflies and zebras,
And Moonbeams and fairy tales.
That’s all she ever thinks about.
Riding with the wind.
Lord when I’m sad, she comes to me,
With a thousand smiles she gives to me free.
It’s alright, she said it’s alright
Take anything you want from me,
Jimi Hendrix – Little Wing
Some avatars seemed to arrived a little early for the “Best in Monsters” event (above, left) but they entertained us with their dancing so that seemed circus-like, although Ring Master Jas seemed to be keeping her distance with her whip. She obviously didn`t want to get on the wrong side of some of these beasts!
