One of the biggest reasons that some people come to Second Life is to connect with people and cultures that they may not have otherwise connected with in their lifetime. I am reminded of this as I walk along the streets of my new home in London’s Knightsbridge. As I wander into Hyde Park I am greeted by British, Canadian, Russian, Australian, and American accents discussing the latest topics or the proper way to apply Vegemite to your sandwich (which apparently is very sparingly)..
The next time you are in the market for a new home, consider the London sims. London has so much to offer, you are not just a renter here, you are part of a community. Being a renter has its perks, you will receive weekly gifts for your home and you can rez and drive your own car or motor bike on the sims. You can choose between a starter home at Imperial Wharf, a luxury home on Bayswater Road, exclusive mansions, luxury homes on Cadogan Place, or Belgravia style homes on Sloane and Trevor Street.
During my exploration of the sims I have ridden the double-decker bus, acquainting myself with the local layout. I have chatted with people from all over the world in Hyde Park. I have shopped in Mayfair. And I have danced in the Coach and Horses Pub and the Sexy Brit Club. All of this is only a quick click away from my home. One of the great things about London is that you are never alone. No matter what time of the day or night you log on, there will be green dots speckled across your mini map.
As a long time renter in SL I have to say this is my favorite place to live. The staff is friendly and very accommodating and there is always something happening on one of the sims! If you are ever in the vicinity of Cadogan Place, stop in and say hello, I’ll leave the light on for you!
