More changes for London are happening this week and the new season brings plenty of plans!

Debi Palmira

Firstly, we need to congratulate  Debi Palmira, who has been made new Entertainments Director. You will all probably recognise her as Manager of Tokyo York, and she says she was “surprised and flattered ” to be offered the promotion, but has lots of ideas for how to improve London.

Debi has been On Second life for just over 4 years now and says a friend introduced her to the world-admitting that when she first saw Furries she wondered what was going on! She has brought her real son on too although she admits he`s “more of a gamer”. She wants to bring more real life DJ s into London and get more exposure for our sims. She says more people need to “see what we have to offer here” and speaks with affection about the ” real London feel, great people and different kinds of music”. Everyone here wishes Debi well and we are all looking forward to her positve plans and new perspective.

Spring has finally sprung in the London Sims and the park has emerged from its covering of snow - now all we need is for it to follow suit in real life! I thought Id accompany some of the pictures I`ve taken in the last few days  with some quotes that British poets have written about the cheering phenomenon of spring here.

“The poets never lied when they praised
Spring in England
Even in this neat suburb
You can feel there`s something to their pastorals
Something gentle ,broadly nostalgic, is stirring
On the well-aired pavements”
A C Jacobs

“This Spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green,
Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame filled bushes,
Thorn-blossom lifting in wreathes of smoke between
Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes
I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze

Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze
And I, what fountain of fire am I among
This leaping combustion of spring, my spirit is tossed
About like a shadow buffeted in the throng
Of flames, a shadow that`s gone astray, and is lost”
D H Lawrence

“All Nature seems at work, Slugs leave their lair-
The bees are stirring- birds are on the wing-
And Winter slumbering on the open air,
Wears on his smiling face a dream of spring!
And I,the while, the sole unbusy thing,
Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing”    Samuel Taylor Coleridge

“Through primrose tufts,in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:–

But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure
The building twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air,
And I must think, do all I can
That there was pleasure there”

William Wordsworth
