Red and Black, and Steampunk and Stripes in Hyde by Jas (Blog 65)

October 24, 2012 • News

The last few nights at Club 2012 in Hyde Park have brought people out in their best costumes- some  cleverly combining their newly bought Halloween outfits with the themes!  On Monday there was Best in Black and Red with DJ Pyp (right) followed by a raver set with DJ Wiccy, and Mayhems late night set. The time changes seemed to have confused some people but we were glad to see that you all turned out in force anyway. 2012s sets will be starting at 12pm (SLT) for the Autumn – 2pm for Coach and 4pm for Mayhem. We are sticking with the popular Hyde venue too.

On Tuesday it was Best in Stripes for the 2012 set and DJ Wiccy had everyone line dancing for some reason known only to himself. It was when it was to “Gangnam Style” that things started to get a little unreal. But, I think I spotted the South Korean rapper Psy himself  (below, right ??) sitting watching with what looked like approval so maybe it was all part of one of Wiccy`s cunning plans!

It was agreed by all that the cutest avatar in stripes was Sonic Rave in his zebra outfit. Although some of the male guests might have thought the girl above was a good contender!

Then, just when you thought things couldn`t get any odder it was time for the Coach and Horses Steampunk event.

Now, I was a little confused as to the definition of Steampunk so I looked it up on WWW.Steampunk.Com..

.. and found a few quotes which I hope will explain people`s attire at the event!

“It’s sort of Victorian-industrial, but with more whimsy and fewer orphans.”
– Caitlin Kittredge

“To me, it’s essentially the intersection of technology and romance.” – Jake von Slatt

“Steampunk is what happens when goths discover brown.” – Jess Nevins

Any help? No I thought not but suffice to say everyone had a ball and DJ Wiccy (who had stepped into the breach and was now doing a four hour set) and host Sonic Rave kept up the party atmosphere. And, if Wiccy`s jokes got a little ruder as the evening went  on nobody seemed to be complaining and after all fun is what the Coach and Horses is all about!
