Today, since it
s only 4 weeks until a certain someone sets off on his sleigh, and because of all the people in SL who have shown me support this week, Ive decided to do write a blog about the precious gift of friendship. At this time of year it`s all too easy to get caught up in the present buying consumerism in the world, or (as in my case) just hibernate and consider the gloominess of the terrible (British) weather.
All week, though, I have been reminded of the importance of friends , especially leading up to the festive season. Whatever your religion or beliefs, a choice word – and maybe a hug or two- can make all the difference. A lot of my good online friends are from the days in which I was manager at the Coach and Horses pub in the London Sims, and, over the last week or so, some of them who have been away have been venturing back to London. Of course, several haven
t been anywhere, and are still heavily involved in the working of our sims. So heres my little ode to friendship (along with some quotes and song lyrics), and if I
ve missed anyone out its because I haven
t heard from them recently (or because I dont have any pics)- not because they aren`t true friends.
In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.
Keira (left) is one of the kindest people I have met in SL. She has suffered recent injuries in RL, due to her altruistic nature, and, rather than give up, she`s ready to get out there and help needy people more. She does building for the London Sims, and lives here too.
Along the way,
Brandon (right) and Sarah (below, right) have been good friends of mine for many years. A few years ago when Brandon was a club manager in the London Sims, he DJ d many times with me as host. Both he and Sarah supported the Coach and Horses pub and worked there, too, as both DJ and host. Last night, when I was feeling very blue in RL they came to meet me in Sexy Brits and we had a great night dancing and chatting. They are the epitome of a perfect couple in SL – devoted to each other but not to the exclusion of their friends. Thank you guys for cheering me up!
The lovely Debs Regent (below) is the founder and manager of the London Sims.
She has been loyal and supportive to me for many years-
even when she barely knew me when I first started hosting in SL.

Ah, now, Alex and Tam. Having both worked in London for years,
Alex is currently in the dog-house for 2 reasons.
1. He mercilessly flirts with everyone despite being a happily married man.
2. He never brings his beautiful wife Tam to London anymore.
But, seriously, they are friends who have been in my Second Life
for four and a half years, and have always been generous
with their time and affection.
BUT COME AND VISIT LONDON GUYS.
(Maybe they`ll come to the Ice Ball!)
Yesterday, however, just when I needed it, she (along with her BF Winnie – another old face!)
was partying in Sexy Brits. She was very friendly, and this morning posted
me a reminder that we have been friends on Facebook since two years ago, today.
Carole King- You Got A Friend
She has been the most consistent and loyal friend I have had on SL. She was also a manager and DJ in the London Sims for a long time.
We speak most days and put the world (or worlds- SL and RL) to rights.
She is a warm and compassionate human being – with far too many real- life dogs!
