The Star Wars Day Event was so much fun! It was so great to see everyone in costume and having a great time! The music was full of songs celebrating or were a parody of Star Wars, many of which I had never heard before, so I learned a lot of new songs today. It was great to hear the familiar beats with words changed to sing about this dearly loved American epic space opera franchise. First the place, London’s Hyde Park Events Field on the London England UK sim, up high in the Death Star Skybox is where the celebration took place. There was great Star Wars music selections and Star Wars Trivia, both of which were great fun! DJ Dreamer (who was a Sexy Storm Trooper) was spinning the tunes and the host, Jas, handled the Trivia questions. And if you answered first and correctly, each correct answer was $10L in your pocket! In the crowd were Slave Leias, R2D2, all kinds of droids, Storm Troopers, Kylo Ren, Jedis, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, many many lightsabers, and I went as a Twi’lek! There was a costume contest and three winners were chosen by all those who entered and were in costumes and lucky me! I was a winner! Thanks again to all those who voted for me! 😀
It’s always so cool to see what everyone comes up with during themed events and this was no different. Even more fun than normal and the music made it that much more special. DJ Dreamer really put together a great set, full of Star Wars themed music from beginning to end! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it appeared to me that so did everyone else and the dance floor was crowded! And, the decor was great too! Just take a look at the droids, ships, Storm Troopers and of course my favorite, the Millennium Falcon!
All in all, it was a great time! And after this event was DJ Sully who got us to keep moving with more great music with some very interesting Star Wars comical clips in between songs along with a bit more Star Wars Day music selections. I cannot wait until the next one! And there are more events planned for this Comicon Month! So be on the lookout for those notices for those dates and times!
And an interesting tidbit I found on Wikipedia that has not caught on too strongly yet (at least in my part of the country):
Star Wars Day became so popular that May 5 has come to be called “Revenge of the Fifth”, a play on Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. On this day, fans join the “Dark Side” by celebrating the Sith Lords from the Star Wars series.
